www.hannathemovie.com/ I read a write up on this a couple of months back and mentally dog eared the release date as something I really wanted to check out. I guess what i was expecting was Hit Girl (from Kick Ass) meets Bourne. I was pleasantly surprised however to find that it was much more Run Lola Run meets Bourne. It may have some American actors (Cate Blanchett) it has a decidedly euro/german feel artistically. I also loved the Chemical Bros scoring. The scenes were a little surreal at times but I soon figured out that these usually happened as we were being shown the world and its flavors, sounds and sights for the first time through the eyes of a girl who'd only known the arctic, book knowledge and predatory hunting. In the end I enjoyed Hanna *because* it wasnt an American espionage action movie.

The ending was slightly disappointing until I realised I was expecting a happy ending, or one neatly tied up with a bow.
Great cinematography and editing; the lead actress, Oscar nominated (Atonement) now-seventeen year-old Sairshe Ronan is amazing; and the story has a natural feel, a gentle pacing to it.

Wed, June 1, 2011 - 11:52 AMI've heard very little of this movie, life keeping me a bit pre-occupied. Reading your summary I must say I am definitely intrigued now! Can't wait to watch this film. -

Wed, June 1, 2011 - 2:24 PMI was ready to give this film an A+ for the first 3/4, but I realized with disappointment in the final act that there was no story, and there was never going to be. I'd give it a B.
** Possible Spoilers Alert **
Everything you will learn about these characters and situations, you learn in the first 10 minutes. At the end the characters all came back to the Grimm house, not because it made sense, but because there was no where else for them to go. There was no story, except that the people who were marked for death had to die.
That was kind of disappointing. I thought we'd learn something, or the story would resolve in some way. Instead it was just one giant chase.
Very stylish though, and I loved the soundtrack.
