I've done a complete 360 on my feelings towards Wes Anderson. The Fantastic Mr. Fox is wonderful and completely devoid of repetitve, hackeneyed story line ( "9") and clihced mugging for the camera (see the poster for Planet 51 to see what I am talking about)
I like how he kept the stop motion animation rough - no cgi masking, sometimes characters don't move at all - which gave it a real Rankin and Bass appeal. Plus his direction for the production design is always impeccable.
I'm gonna give Royal Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic another chance!

Sat, November 7, 2009 - 1:03 PMIf you haven't seen it, "Darjeeling Unlimited" is very good as well ... IMO better than "Life Aquatic", which was less than the sum of its parts.
Thanks for the boost for Mr. Fox -- I've been intrigued since I saw the trailer, and will go see it. -

OK I'm on board!
Is it the same animator that did the Life Aquatic critters?
Cause the cast sure looks like a Wes Anderson reunion party!
Hey, go with what works...
