Sigh. Why can't Tarantino make a serious movie? His obsession with exploitation is boring. He can still deliver strong, entertaining movies, but not great ones. I think he's wasting his gifts.

He'll never make another film as good as Pulp Fiction.

But I did like the two bars of Einstuerzende Neubauten at the beginning of the trailer ....

        ha ha.

I loved Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.

I hated jackie brown & death proof

          Einstuerzende Neubauten is God.

I like Jackie Brown better than Reservoir Dogs. Dogs was harder to stomach. That ear scene? Oh, me goodness! I never saw Kill Bill 1 or 2.

            << I never saw Kill Bill 1 or 2. >>

            For shame Mr. M!

Drop what you are doing right now (or likely in your case WHO you're doing) and go see 'em!

I hardly ever have sex for like three years now. Besides with Mr. Hand. Quite frequently. I think it keeps me alive. I'm practically a monk now. A monk that is still disease free. That seems like a miracle if you look at statistics.

Anyway! Should I put the Kill Bills in my Netflix queue? Are they really that good? I have no idea why I havent seen them. I want to start the first season of True Blood asap. I finally finished Echelon Conspiracy after restarting it 5 or 6 times. The end was hella weak. James. I'll give you a big fat joint if you can guess which guy in the movie I think is hot as hell. : ) Now I'm watching True Romance.

              BOINK!!!

Hey maybe Tarantino will resurrect his career too!
I think exploitation IS tarantino's strength. he definitely provides a niche not well covered otherwise. Inglourious Bastards loks sick and wrong. I'mma gunna like it.

Anyone looking forward to seeing it? It's hard to say from the trailers but it could be funny as hell

The non-general public reviews so far give it 4.4/5 stars. A gang of us are already planning on dinner, cigar tasting and I.G. viewing on friday.

I have to say though that I was horrified to see a bus ad last weekend. That's usually an ominous sign.

It didnt disappoint. I feel like IG was Tarantino growing up a little bit. It was deliciously black and carried a lot of his typical devices but even at two and a half hours it was still fairly frugal. I didnt get worn out by his sometimes pointlessly verbose dialogs this time. There were long stretches to be sure but they all clear served to move the story along, and quite often were beautiful build-ups to really intense violence. Brad Pitt was actually damn near perfect in this and i havent been all too impressed with him over the years. I loved the ambrosia of everything from Noir to spaghetti western tossed in the mix with his trademark 70's B flick style, though the bowie song didnt really work for me. I got the connection, it just didnt really fit for me. All things considered thats really stretching to find something to be annoyed about.

Go see it. Its 10 bucks you wont regret.

There was so much to love about this film I'd give it a B+. Some of the scenes and most of the performances hit it out of the park.

It was not at all the movie I was expecting -- I thought it was going to be about the group and its behind-the-lines shenanigans blowing up Nazis and cutting their scalps off, but that occupied literally about 4 minutes of the entire screen time. Instead we get a suspenseful thriller, and action movie, and a revenge porn with Eli Roth looking like he's going to ejaculate as he guns down the Naht-zis.

I was reminded a bit of Evil Dead 2 -- this is a film that is entirely of its genre (revenge picture), but transcends it too by the shear virtuosity of its film making.

The revenge picture is not a genre I have a lot of affinity for and it left me a bit cold at the end. I mean, what was this movie about, really? Parading nefarious villains on stage in two dimensions so the audience can chortle and gloat when they're exterminated? It's hard for me to celebrate anybody's death, even a cartoon Nazi.

      *** Minor Spoiler Alert ***

Also I gotta say that even granting this isn't exactly a historical reenactment, it stretched credulity to put it mildly. I mean, Hitler's supposed to be at a movie premier in Paris and they don't even have guards at the main entrance?

very well done and i think it was the best thing tarantino has done since pulp fiction

        loved the long opening scene

reminded me a lot of "once upon a time in the west"

there was also a lot of nods to de palma and scorsese too

        whats not to like

taranatino made a very entertaining film and seeing it with a good crowd at the castro theatre really helped

          "loved the long opening scene"

QT told Roger Ebert that scene was the first he wrote, and the reason he never gave up on the film (many years in production) was because he knew how good that scene was.

    **SPOILER ALERT****

After I saw this film, I thought, FINALLY! A film with a satisfying ending!!!

sure some good guys had to die, but the ending was fucking great, I though, "no, they won't kill Hitler" But OH YEAH!!!!!

    Lot's of blah blah blah.

The dialog would be much more interesting if there were less of it. Always leave them wanting more. That's my motto.

The movie ended for me with the scene in the bar. The big movie theater climax and final retribution, eh.

Dude its Tarantino. He. Never. Shuts. Up. If we were in a relationship I'd suffocate him in his sleep. But I dig most of his movies. Just saw Hell Ride though and man did that suck. The only reason to watch it is the very heavy irony involving David Carradine's character.

I wonder if Tarantino thinks of himself as a cool guy, or a dork. If I had to guess, I'd say he secretly fears he's a dork, but wants to be a cool guy. A case could probably be made that that's the primary force driving all of his movies.
