Wow! I haven't been out to the movies in ages, an dI just had to see this one.
You really must see it to if you saw the original in the 80s or enjoy vampire flicks.
There is a cameo appearance from the original film, altho it wasn't Amanda Bearse. I would have liked to see her as a nosey neighbor killed of early in the film. There is on actor in the film that I particularly adore, playing the character of Peter Vincent. Unless you've seen the a trailer which could give it away, you won't recognize him until a certain amount of disrobing occurs. I won't give it away, because it's such a cool surprise if you don't know from the beginning. And I must say, you'll want to pay particular attention when he pulls at the crotch of his leather pants, as this gesture is much intensified with the effects of 3D.
Using 3D wasn't all that necessary for the film, just a little added bonus. You're probably all jaded with your HD televisions anyway.
I also enjoyed seeing the young actress from "28 Weeks Later", Imogen Poots in this film. Kind of wraps up zombies together with vampires.
I'd give it an 8 out of 10 for a cool, scary, fun matinee. It's not going to change your life or anything.
And I guess I have to add, please don't bring your little kids to this film. It is gory and scary, and some idiot brought her little toddler to the film, and she promptly started screaming and trie to run away up the stairs.

Re: Fright Night/3D

I really truly wanted to hate it...
But i ended being intrigued by Farrell's change in Dandrige's characte... I liked the deranged psychotic but it was different than his mental character in Intermission, more evolved....
But I did miss the original's Ed's line.... "Oh, your sooo coool Brewster....
