Appoloosa - Good slow and steady Western film. I really enjoyed the acting, pacing and ending.

Blood Diamond - Excellent film. Leonardo Dicaprio is outstanding in this film, as is Djimon Hounsou.

Chaneling - Angelina Jolie is outstanding in this film. She portrays a woman who's son goes missing and the police give her back the wrong boy.

Curious Case of Benjamin Button - I loved this film. Beautiful to watch, great acting and dialogue. I want to watch it again.

Day the Earth Stood Still - I felt this was a film I could watch and clean the house at the same time.

House Bunny - This movie was much better than I anticipated Anna Faris is hilarious in this film. I adore her!

Marley & Me - This movie was too middle-aged, middle-crisis cheesy for me. I kept flipping away from it on the airplane.

Wanted - Fun action-packed movie. Light-hearted, but entertaining to watch.

Yes Man - I was not expecting much from this movie, but I really enjoyed it and laughed a lot.

Quarantine -- I really enjoyed it. Somewhat slow start but frenetic action once it got going.

Wanted - Promising start turned lame-o

      Cloverfield. It was okay.
Clockstoppers - A kids movie. It was okay. Not all that good.
Doomsday - Perty cool. Like a combo of Road Warrior, Escape From New York, Resident Evil, and a few other movies. Not the best movie ever. But I did like it. Hardcore violence. If I had young kids I wouldnt want them to see it.

I haven't seen quarantine yet, but I find it hard to imagine that it was an improvement over the original.

REC was one of those films that kept me on the edge of my seat and had me jumping at shadows .

The Strangers- Didn't care for it, bored me.
The Last House On the Left ( the original, not the remake) - very creepy. This one made my skin crawl.Good though.
        Wanted- Loved it,very surprized.
The Eye- Loved this one as well.

          Deadgirl - Sicker than most.
2 hormonal teens find a hot dead chick?

Powder Blue - Drama Lite, but it wanted to be more.
Everyone on the brink of suicide.

Everything Is Illuminated - Well done. Great visuals and Sammy Davis Jr. Jr.
Going back to where it happened can be a good thing.

Miller's Crossing - How did I not see this before? It was GREAT.

Body of Lies - another good Leonardi di Caprio film also starring George Clooney, about the war of terror

Eagle Eye - a bit unbelievable, but some fun action and decent political thrill-ride, and some food for thought on "is technology worth losing our humanity?"

Into the Wild - just so good

Knocked Up - cheesy RoCo that did make me laugh

The Omega Man - finally got around to watching it after I learned here that I Am Legend was based on it. "You damned dirty occultists!"

Role Models - two guys get in trouble and to stay out of jail they big brother a couple of kids which proves to be a big challenge. Many, many laughs.

The Promotion - comedy about two guys vying for a promotion to manager at a new supermarket that is opening up, reminded me a bit of Office Space, if you're sick of work this might be your cupati

Quantum of Solace - James Bond's latest, I miss Roger Moore and Sean Connery, but it was still entertaining

    Sex Drive - "fucking" hilarious

Kn0w1ng - disaster flick combining some hard to believe elements

    W. - good for realizing I'm glad to have made it out alive, much funnier than I expected. "We can't let these Ayatollah Cockamamies boss us around!"

21 - alright film about a cool gambling story, decent twist if you don't already know the story

        Omega Man is a classic

I'd also highly recommend Soylent Green

watched The Day the Earth Stood Still - it was ok. I really found Jaden Smith to be super annoying. Much prefer the original 1950's classic

For the sake of accuracy both The Omega Man, I am Legend and The Last Man on Earth (starring Vincent Price!) are all based on the same story "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson most notably a tele-writer. He also wrote the story and screenplay for The Incredible Shrinking Man.

      Just sayin'

It's not a movie. But I just finished watching Season 1 of Dexter and starting Season 2 today. I also have two other movies here that were recommended on this tribe. Dark City and The City of Lost Children. I started watching Dark City a few days ago. Only watched about five or ten minutes of it and decided to go to bed. It was late. It seemed kind of boring. But I'm going to watch it soon. Hope it's good. I watched The Bridge again last weekend with my friend. His partner saw the first few minutes and went to work in the yard after seeing the first jumper. D thought it was good though. I think I've watched it about five times now.

Cashback - college artist dude gets dumped by his first causing him to develop insomnia and the ability to slow down and even stop time but will he find love again? Some seriously cool camerawork here.

The Island - Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johannssen find out that something is just not right about the life they've been told is reality

Step Brothers - I thought this was hilarious

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - I Can Haz Mila Kunis?

Rescue Dawn - early Vietnam POW escape flick

Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging - Nickelodeon teen romance in Britain, amazed I sat through it, thankful I'm not a teen

I think I should slow down on the reading too. Just really disturbing. I need some fluff. Something light. Like Surfing magazine or something. lol

What a piece of crap this one was. The main dude was hella handsome though.

I saw one last night called Baby Mama. It was okay but kind of sucked too.

And I saw Stay. I loved it and there were a couple of parts I think may have gone over my head or something. I actually cried kind of intensely two or three times for some reason. Like when the son put his hands on his dads head and at the end when the blond was holding the guy on the street. Holy shitowski Batman!!! And Ewan McGregor was hot as hell. I want a haircut like that. Then we would look almost like twins. : )

Frozen River -- Outstanding. Highly recommended to fans of intelligent character studies a la Altman and Sayles.

Adventureland -- More bittersweet and nostalgic and less hilarious than we were led to believe by the marketing campaign, but a better movie than I expected. Really nice.

recently viewed (or viewed again) on cable:

"Super High Me" - Documentary starring comedian Doug Benson as he goes without smoking pot for 30 days, then smokes himself retarded for another 30. Predictable, but well-made. And Doug cracked my shit up much more often than I though he would.

"Good Will Hunting" - Like most movies broadcast on tv this lost a lot of its bite because of censoring &editing. Still a good movie though.

"Cold Turkey - I caught the last 3/4 of this classic last Friday afternoon. It's about a town who'll get a substantial (and much needed) cash reward if they can collectively quit smoking tobacco. Dick Van Dycke rocks this one. Being a 3 year recovering ex-smoker this movie was especially funnier this time around then the last time I saw it (I was a smoker then).

"The Longest Yard (remake)" - UNLIKE most movies broadcast on tv, this movie was HILARIOUS because of censoring & editing. Just hearing these hardened convicts say stuff like "Frooze you" and "muthalova", etc. I didn't think it was that bad (as remakes go).

"The Wedding Crashers" - Funny movie. I've never saw the unedited version, but I can imagine it's even funnier. Plus: Isla Fisher

Jackass 2.0 - This movie loses NONE of its charm due to censoring & editing for tv!

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Director's Cut) - Damn right 4 stars. Damn right (the ending gets cornier the older I get however).

                      "Daredevil" - meh.

"Chinatown" - A classic. (Man that pedophile/rapist sure can direct!)

"Papillion" - Dustin Hoffman convinvingly shows us how much Devil's Island sucked shit

"Die Hard" - "Yippie kye ay (censored for tv)!!"

                                    (on DVD)

                                    Black Snake Moan

Cristina Ricci's part was smaller than Samuel L. Jackson's - I thought they'd have equal screentime - but she did a pretty good job of balancing sexy, scary, and pathetic.

Samuel is his usual intense self, although this time with a character that actually has some depth and nuances compared to some of his other work. Ultimately I ended up liking the character of Lazarus more than I thought I would.

Also throughout this film, Samuel L. reaffirms time & again his status as one of Hollywood's champion cussers. Man it sounds like poetry when he swears! Sublimely timeless...like he's been doing it since he was a toddler.

(Black Snake Moan is also available where all fine DVDs are sold/rented)

World's Greatest Dad - Robin Williams is a high school teacher/wannabe writer who attempts to keep his sexy teacher girlfriend, gain popularity and smooth over his douchebag son's autoerotic death and turn him into a high school folk hero by writing a fake suicide note and journal and publishing it for the school, and the nation, to read.

Horsemen- Dennis Quaid , Ziyi Zhang and the sexy Clifton Collins Jr. are in

this. It was pretty good. It's about these serial killings that follow the themes

The King- AMAZING!! One of my favorites Gael Bernal is in this. A guy

gets discharged from the navy and goes to look for his birth father.

What he finds and does to his father's family is bananas. Quite the

            psychological thiller.

The Messenger -- Very solid film about two army guys who are responsible for informing next of kin that their loved ones have been killed. Solid performances by Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson, and Samantha Morton. But man, Morton has really let herself go ... it's getting kind of Marlon Brando.
