The 1982 animated film, The Last Unicorn, is my favorite childhood movie! Geoff Murphy, second unit director to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, is on board to direct a live action version of The Last Unicorn. This movie has been in pre-production for the last 3 years and nobody is sure if it will ever go into production. Click on the link below to see the web site that is in development.

One of the issues keeping this movie from moving forward has to do with a dispute between Peter S. Beagle, the author of the book, and Granada/Continent Films regarding compensation to Beagle for his work. After reading about Beagle's career and the lack of compensation, credit and treatment he has received over the years for his writing and creations, I really feel that we need to try to get help from as many fans as possible.

Best Holiday wishes to you all!!

this movie was also one of my childhood favorites. I'm not sure how I feel about a new version being made.
They don't make cartoon movies like that anymore (at least in America), everything is so fluffy and pc nowadays.

I love the animated film ... love love LOVE it. One of the saddest movies I've ever seen.

I find it promising that several of the vocal talents from the animated film seem to be involved with the live action version. I simply cannot imagine anyone other than Christopher Lee as King Haggard, for example.

I do have some question about the director they've got on board, though. Seems he also directed Freejack and Young Guns II, but you never know.

Did anyone order Beagle's limited-edition novella sequel?
